Stampin' Dymonz ZENTANGLE Challenge

Hello friends!!! I am soooo behind on posting, visiting blogs and sending e-mails. I will be feverishly playing catch-up in the next few weeks.

I missed completing the last several challenges at Stampin' Dymonz Creative Space and I promised to be better about doing her challenges. Challenge #8  Your challenge this week, then, is to create a Zentangle design. Your Zentangle must be an A2 sized card (4.25" X 5.5") on white cardstock and the Zentangle needs to encompass the entire front and back of the card in it's design. The inside should have a half inch border of Zentangle on each of its longest sides. You are allowed a quarter inch border on the front/back if you so wish. All you need is white cardstock and a black Ultra Fine Sharpie Marker.

Well~I have NEVER zentangled, but I am quite pleased with my 1st attempt.

Have a FABULOUS day!!!

HUGS!!!

My Ouchie

For those of you who remeber my pretty cast~ I was in it for three weeks as a last resort to treating my plantar fascitis. It did not work. Plantar fasciitis occurs when the thick band of tissue on the bottom of the foot is overstretched or overused. This can be pain and make walking difficult.

Initial Treatment includes:
•Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) to reduce pain and inflammation
•Heel stretching exercises
•Resting as much as possible for at least a week
•Wearing shoes with good support and cushions
Other steps to relieve pain include:
•Apply ice to the painful area. Do this at least twice a day for 10 - 15 minutes, more often in the first couple of days.
•Try wearing a heel cup, felt pads in the heel area, or shoe inserts.
•Use night splints to stretch the injured fascia and allow it to heal.
If these treatments do not work, your doctor may recommend:
•Custom-made shoe inserts (orthotics)
•Steroid shots or injections into the heel
•Wearing a boot cast, which looks like a ski boot, for 3-6 weeks. It can be removed for bathing.
Wearing a walking cast.

In a few patients, nonsurgical treatment does not work. Surgery to release the tight tissue becomes necessary.
I had my surgery on July 7th.

.

This are not images from my actual surgery, but of the procedure that I had done (In-Step Plantar Fasciotomy)

My postoperative orders.
A walker boot will be used from the day of surgery until 6 weeks post-operative. The walker boot is used for all walking. For the 1st 3weeks, it is used day and night. After 3 weeks (when my stitches are removed), it can be removed for showering.

I will be spending the next few weeks catching up on blogging  :)

HUGS!!

Today our community mourns

With a war that’s lasted longer than any other, the reality is that if you wait long enough, sooner or later the statistics will catch up with you. More than 250 Illinois soldiers have given their lives for our freedom. Now that number has grown by one.

Pfc. Michael Olivieri and four others belonging to the 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley, Kan., were killed in Baghdad when insurgents launched an attack on their base, division officials said. The soldiers deployed to Iraq in November 2010.

They were part of the 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, supporting the development of Iraq forces and the improvement of civilian life in central Iraq.

Each of the soldiers had served less than two years and each was on his first deployment.

Homer Glen is a small but close-knit community, where plans are already being made to honor Pfc. Olivieri in the form of a special memorial at the Homer Township Public Library, where his mother Jody works. They are creating a “Heroes” quiet reading room as part of a library expansion to honor the 26-year-old soldier and others in the military.

Olivieri was due home on Monday June 13, which would have been his one-year wedding anniversary with his wife Sharon, and was also due to attend his sister’s wedding on the 25th. All of this makes his death especially hard for his family and friends to take. From all accounts, however, they have been nothing but proud of his service to his country.

Olivieri was a 2002 graduate of nearby Lockport Township High School  and attended Southern Illinois University. He also started and played in a local band called The Moops. His friends called him, “The glue that held us together.”

Hundreds of mourners of all ages turned out this morning to honor U.S. Army Pfc. Michael C. Olivieri during the soldier’s funeral procession through Homer Glen en route from the Modell Funeral Home to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

The funeral procession included about 200 vehicles. En route to the cemetery, it passed by crowds of supporters gathered on all four corners at all the major intersections along the route in Homer Glen. Other towns took part in paying tribute, too, with fire departments using their ladder trucks and flags to form arches across the roads.
